President Viktor Yanukovych invites Brazilian businessmen to take part in national projects the New Energy and LNG terminal construction in Ukraine, he said at a meeting with Brazilian businessmen. "All national projects in Ukraine, which are in fact analogous to the accelerated development plan of Brazil, are open to foreign investors," he said.

Viktor Yanukovych noted the project New Energy provides measures to increase energy efficiency and alternative energy development in Ukraine. "Our state is committed to increasing the use of renewable energy to the maximum – we introduced a ‘green tariff’ one of the highest in Europe in 2009, and joined the European Energy Community last year," he said. "I know that Brazilian companies have extensive experience in the projects similar to the national project New Energy, and invite them to active cooperation," he said.

Speaking of the draft project to build an LNG terminal in Ukraine, the President said the construction would be complete in about three years and the facility would have the production capacity of 10 billion cubic meters a year. "The project provides an opportunity to expand alternative channels of gas supplies to Europe via the existing pipeline system of Ukraine. This project is important for the development of European security," Viktor Yanukovych said.

The President stressed that it is the first major project that is to be realized in Ukraine by the scheme of public-private partnership. "Participation of Brazilian companies in this project is essential for us. So I invite you to become its strategic investors," the President said.
