During his meeting with Fidel Castro, President Viktor Yanukovych has
discussed cooperation between Ukraine and Cuba, he said in an interview
in Havana. "We had a very interesting conversation," he added, ForUm learned in the presidential press office.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, during the meeting the parties have discussed cooperation in the medical field. "We have discussed fundamental research in microbiology, and prevention and treatment of serious diseases. We have agreed that Ukraine and Cuba would sign an agreement on cooperation in a number of areas of medical research... especially in the area of treatment and rehabilitation of cancer patients," he said.
"I had a wonderful meeting with Fidel Castro. I saw a man who is vividly interested in the world politics and economy," the President of Ukraine said. According to him, Fidel Castro conveyed greetings to the Ukrainian nation with the wishes of success.
The President wished success to the leadership of Cuba on the path of modernization. "We would really whish that the reforms started in Cuba were successful and brought it to prosperity and improvement of the lives of Cuban people," Viktor Yanukovych said.
