Ukraine's foreign policy will be always aimed at protecting our national interests, President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview in Havana, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

Making comments on the free trade agreement with CIS countries signed by Ukraine, the President said that the document has been in preparation for a long time. "Ukraine and other CIS countries have been preparing the agreement for a long time... But it does not mean to hinder the European integration of Ukraine. Also, all the integration issues that we currently decide, do not have the intent to make friends against anyone," he said.

The President said that the difficult economic situation in the world demands Ukraine to make active efforts to integrate its national economy into the global one.

"I have said that and would like to repeat: our foreign policy means pragmatic approach to economic issues, economization of our foreign-economic processes with many development centers of the world," Viktor Yanukovych said.

"We have to create means to withstand the crisis tendencies in the world. We see no other way. The politicization of the process only harms," summed up the Ukrainian Head of State.
