The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed the draft state budget for 2012 submitted by the government in its first reading.

248 deputies voted 'for' and 45 MPs 'against', ForUm correspondent reported.

The budget bill was not supported by the opposition faction BYuT and the Communist Party, despite its participation in the majority with the ruling Party of Regions.

In his closing statement Finance Minister Fedor Yaroshenko said the parliament made many useful propositions on the draft budget. He assured the draft budget would be improved taking into account these propositions.
