The opposition government of Ukraine believes that Prime Minister Mykola Azarov exceeded his authority by signing the agreement on a free trade zone within the Commonwealth of Independent States. This was stated at a meeting of the opposition government by its head, BYuT-Batkivshchyna MP Serhiy Sobolev, UKRINFORM reports.

According to him, Mykola Azarov exceeded his authority by signing the free trade zone agreement with Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, given the fact that this issue had not been agreed either with the Cabinet or Parliament.

The opposition say: "In the absence of real reform and destruction of democratic achievements, the current government has every chance to fail signing of the treaty on association and free trade zone with the European Union, which is fateful for this country and its development prospects."

"Judging by the recent statements of Yanukovych, we are ready to abandon the free trade zone and association with the European Union," Sobolev said.

In contrast to the incumbent prime minister, the opposition prime minister is skeptical of Russia's promises to revise in the free trade zone terms the exemptions involving oil and gas, as well as Ukrainian sugar. "All of this will remain just a promise," he concluded.

In addition, the opposition says, the so-called customs union, which never ceases to invite Ukraine, leads to the restoration of the Soviet Union and isolation of Ukraine from the civilized world.
