President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych stated that our state insists on presence of the paragraph about the prospect of EU membership in the Association Agreement with the EU. He said this in an interview at the First National TV Channel.

President stressed that the document provides mutual obligations - both of Ukraine and the EU. "Ukraine's commitment to integrate into European space – it is reforms, European standards and so on," he said, ForUm learned from the press office of the Party of Regions.

"We put the question in order this Agreement reflects prospect of Ukraine on joining the European Union. If there is no such a perspective, it will be empty. This is the first. It will even, I say, affect negatively the process of European integration. That is no motivation in this Agreement," President noted.

According to Viktor Yanukovych, because of numerous problems faced by the EU, its leadership "certainly does not want today to assume any liabilities, because they are not confident that they will enlarge." "We hear it. There are countries categorically opposed the expansion of the European Union," President added.

"And it seems that we, you know, as poor relation, ask, and we are not allowed. I do not want this. I do not want to have our partnership rights violated. And I want us to have such an agreement that we need. I insist, I am saying all the time, and on the forum "Eastern Partnership", which has recently been in Warsaw, I’ve said and insisted that the Agreement should reflect the prospect of Ukraine's accession to the European Union," Viktor Yanukovych summed up.
