Leader of the faction of the Party of Regions Oleksandr Yefremov states that the opposition does not present any constructive propositions regarding decriminalization of economic crimes.
He said this in response to ForUm's questions whether the parliamentary majority manages to come to an agreement with the opposition on the given issue.
"The President submitted for consideration the draft bill on humanization of the Criminal Code, but our colleagues from the opposition do not present any concrete amendments. They are just looking for some end runs. But the matter is either they present some serious propositions and we consider them and decide, or they say they don't have any and we adopt the president's draft bill as it is," Yefremov said.
The PR faction leader stated that first the opposition proposed to liquidate the article 365 (Tymoshenko's case - ed.), but later they accused the authorities of an attempt to indemnify against criminal liability.
At the same time Yefremov noted that this article cannot be decriminalized, because the society will consider it a political decision for politicians to avoid any responsibility.
