MP of Ukraine, Deputy Chairman of the Party of Regions on International Policy Leonid Kozhara urged media to pay attention to statements of European representatives, demanding to respect the decision of Ukrainian court in Tymoshenko case and talking about the intention to continue talks with Ukraine.

"Today the Ukrainian court found Tymoshenko guilty. Position of national media looks strange, which replicate only critical comments of some Europeans, but miss more weighted and cautious statements made by other Europeans. For some reason, the Ukrainian media have not noticed the reaction to the verdict of those European representatives, who call for respect for the decision of Ukrainian court and to continue negotiations with Ukraine," the MP said.

According to him, appropriate statements were made by representatives of France and Italy, ForUm learned from the press office of the Party of Regions.

The ruling party of France "Union for a Popular Movement" called to respect the court's decision in Yulia Tymoshenko case. This is stated in the party communiqué of the "Union for a Popular Movement", read out by the National Secretary of the party David Xavier Weiss.

"I understand the emotions and reactions that might cause the former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko on the verdict, the judge Rodion Kireev voiced, but I remind that legal decision should be respected," Leonid Kozhara quoted David Xavier Weiss.

National Secretary of the ruling party of France also said: "We know that the legal procedure was initiated by former Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko, leader of the Orange Revolution, as Yulia Tymoshenko is, that is by ally of one political line, rather than the current president, Viktor Yanukovych."

According to Leonid Kozhara, concluding his communiqué, David Xavier Weiss noted that the Tymoshenko trial should not become political, and her rights must be observed: "Despite the emotion, the Ukrainians and the Ukrainian justice must give impartial assessment of Yulia Timoshenko trial," David Xavier Weiss said.

According to the MP, in Italy they also see nothing wrong with Yulia Tymoshenko case. Minister of Foreign Affairs Franco Frattini during the talks with his European counterparts in Luxembourg said that negotiations between the EU and Ukraine on Association Agreement signing, as well as establishment of free trade area will be continued, in spite of the voiced verdict.

"Negotiations on free trade area and Association Agreement with Kyiv will be fortunately continued. Ukraine is a country that has full cooperation opportunity with the European Union," Leonid Kozhara quoted Franco Frattini.
