Ukraine needs to provide proper funding of preparation for the Summer Olympics 2012 that will be held in London, President Viktor Yanukovych said during a meeting with World Boxing Championship 2011 winners, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.

"It is estimated that 420 million will be spent on the preparation for the Olympics 2012. Only a half of that sum was allocated. We should not protract that until it is too late," he said, referring to First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev.

"We should not be saving on that. Because Olympic sports complexes will be serving our athletes in the future," the President said.

Viktor Yanukovych praised the victory of Ukraine’s national team at the World Boxing Championship 2011. He stressed that in addition to the world fame, Ukrainian boxers got licenses to participate in the 2012 Olympics in London.
