The negative reaction of the foreign countries to the verdict to ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko was expected, Foreign Ministry representative Oleh Voloshyn declared, ForUm correspondent reports.
"During the trial over Tymoshenko we were receiving certain signals. But it won't do to say the verdict is bad, make another one. You'd think if Tymoshenko had been acquitted Brussels would have invited us with hugs and kisses," he noted.
According to Voloshyn, the EU approach should not depend on a separate trial. "Even if it is a trial over former high official. If there had been no Tymoshenko's case, EU political opponents of rapprochement with Ukraine would have found another fault," Voloshyn summed up.
