Pechersk district court has recognized former Prime minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko guilty in abusing of power while signing gas contracts with Russia in 2009 and sentenced her to seven years of imprisonment.

In addition, the court decreed to forbid Tymoshenko holding public office for three years.
The court has also sustained the claim of 'Naftogaz Ukrainy' regarding the compensation of losses amounting 1.516 milliards UAH, caused by signing the gas contracts with Russia in 2009.

The verdict can be appealed in the Appeal Court during 15 days.

During the verdict announcement Tymoshenko declared she would defend her rights in the European court.
