Yanukovych promises to always stand for Ukraine's interests in gas negotiations with Russia, President Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview with Greek newspaper 'Ethnos tis Kyriakis'.
"We have a long history of relations, but when the matter concerns national interest, of course, we will stand on our side. We have certain disagreements and we need to figure out the way out, but it is inappropriate to label the side as good and bad," Yanukovych said, ForUm learned from the presidential press office.
The President underlined that Ukraine and Russia are equal partners, and this balance must be maintained. "We keep the balance from both sides. Russia is a great country. We always say that Russia's strength is in understanding this strength and taking it into account in its foreign policy," Yanukovych summed up.
