Greece does not support the demand of the Ukrainian side to include in the draft Association Agreement with the EU a clause on Ukraine's EU membership prospect, Ukrainian Ambassador to Greece Volodymyr Shkurov told reporters in Athens.
"Greece is very well disposed towards Ukraine. And, of course, it tries to support Ukraine, where possible. But Greece is not ready now to support Article 49, which Ukraine insists on, concerning the inclusion of prospects of Ukraine's membership in the European Union in the Association Agreement. Greece believes that the present moment is not the best for EU accession," Shkurov emphasized, UKRINFORM reported.
At the same time, the diplomat stressed that Greece is not principally against Ukraine's membership in the EU.
