MP: Decriminalization of the Criminal Code is anti-corruption by its nature
MP of Ukraine from the Party of Regions Oleh Nadosha said that decriminalization of the Criminal Code is anti-corruption by its nature. He said this in Parliament on Thursday, October 6, commenting on the draft document.

"This legislative initiative is clearly anti-corruption by its nature," the MP said. "This step knocks out trumps of the hands of corrupt police officers who practice extortion of businesses by changing the article on that, which does not provide criminal liability for offenses committed," he explained, ForUm learned from the press office of the Party of Regions.

"You should understand the psychology of Western businessmen: they come here and think that here you can be in jail for every penny. And knowing that the responsibility for violations of economic legislation is limited to paying the fine, they will invest more in Ukrainian economy. For us it is improvement of investment climate," Oleh Nadosha said.

Commenting on the size of fines, provided by Criminal Code for economic crimes, he advised to wait for the second reading of the document. "What is clear now - it is the correct logic of the law: for financial crimes the state should receive an adequate response - that is, funds must be returned instead of putting the businessman-offender to prison and keeping him at the expense of the state," politician informed.

"Logic of our opposition, which offers to make decriminalization only for two persons - Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko, is surprising. This is wrong," the MP summed up.
