Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung discussed during their meeting in Kyiv the possibility of creating a free trade zone between Ukraine and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Ukraine and Vietnam also agreed to intensify the work of the bilateral intergovernmental commission, as well as to create joint ventures in energy, agriculture and mining industries.

Azarov stressed that the introduction of direct flights between Kyiv and Hanoi from December this year will contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

In turn, the Prime Minister of Vietnam said that bilateral relations are developing dynamically, but still do not fully correspond with the potential of the two countries. According to him, the parties will make every effort to double their trade turnover in 2012, UKRINFORM reports.

In addition, Nguyen Tan Dung stressed that the parties had agreed to revive cooperation in the agricultural sector. In this context, they agreed on signing in the near future an intergovernmental protocol on quarantine of plants and an agreement on the recognition of quality of agricultural products.

During the meeting the parties also focused on cooperation in educational sphere. In particular, Azarov promised to increase the number of scholarships for students from Vietnam.
