Emergency minister Viktor Baloha has sent a letter to the speaker Volodymyr Lytvyn with a request to initiate reconsideration of annual time conversion from winter to summer time, ForUm learned from the press office of the Emergency Ministry.
The document says, the Emergency Ministry is receiving many appeals from citizens, including medical specialists, meteorologists and teachers, who state that the decision to cancel time conversion was made without taking into account the propositions and scientific workers, specialists and public opinion.
The Minister believes that the establishing of the second time zone in the territory of Ukraine with one hour added will have negative impact on the psychological and physical conditions of people and will simply complicate the life. Baloha pointed out that citizens of Western regions will suffer the most, as the day light will come only after 9 a.m.
The letter also pays attention to the fact that the majority of specialists supports the cancellation of the time conversion, but insists on permanent conversion to 'winter' time and cancellation of the 'summer' one.
