PACE session faces more global issues than the debate on the case of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, says MP, member of the Party of Regions parliamentary faction, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on European Integration, Head of the Fund "European Development" Volodymyr Vecherko.

He stated this on Monday, October 3, commenting on the refusal of the Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to debate on the trial of former Prime Minister of Ukraine.

"The central themes of the forum will be aggravating the situation in the Middle East, the situation in post-revolutionary states of North Africa - Egypt, Tunisia and Libya, and the issue of refugees’ influx from these countries to Europe," the MP said, ForUm learned from the Party of Regions press office.

He also informed that at the PACR session should hold a speech the head of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas, his participation has been already confirmed.

"That is, the world faces now real and global challenges, and PACE is obliged to seek adequate solutions," Volodymyr Vecherko said.

According to politician, representatives of the Ukrainian opposition overstate the importance for Europe of Yulia Tymoshenko case.

"Some politicians often try to pass the desirable for reality. But we need to perceive reality adequately and understand that the world community has more important problems than the Ukrainian opposition," he concluded.
