Improving working conditions for teachers and reforming the educational sector as a whole remains among the priorities of the Ukrainian authorities, the President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said in an interview to Ukrainian journalists in Warsaw.

President noted that in recent years the efforts of government are primarily aimed at raising the social status of teachers, their salary and therefore pensions.

The President called as "very painful" for Ukraine the issue of teachers decent working conditions. According to the President, solving this problem is restrained by the national economy. However, Viktor Yanukovych noted that over the past two years the economic situation in the country improved, spending from the state budget on education sector increased. "It is important to spend the allocated funds effectively," the President added.

Undoubtedly, the President said, improvement of working conditions for teachers is associated with reform of education. "This is a very serious issue, on which we have paid and will pay much attention. Educational reform is one of the priorities of the Government," Viktor Yanukovych said, adding that this issue is also incorporated into the national reform program.
