Defense attorney Mykola Siryi believes the court must carefully analyze the positions expressed by the prosecution and defense in court debates in order to make an objective decision in the case against former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

“The court must carefully analyze every piece of evidence. In the classical understanding of the criminal process and criminal law, I think the judge needs at least a couple weeks of quiet work to do this job,” Mykola Siryi said in his speech today in court.

In his opinion, when analyzing evidence the court must be guided by national and international law. “I would like to offer the suggestion that it is simpler and more straightforward to look at this case from the standpoint of international law, business law and constitutional law,” he said.
