Judge Rodion Kireyev has denied the defense request to return to the stage of judicial inquiry in the trial of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

“Refusing to reopen the judicial inquiry the judge deliberately excludes evidence from further stages of the trial. If we are trying to follow the law, then we demand that the judicial inquiry be reopened, that all motions be addressed and that all evidence be announced. Only then can we move on to the next stage of the trial,” Yulia Tymoshenko said in support of her lawyer's request.

The ex-premier pointed out that the court did not review important documents that were added to the case, in particular the Ernst&Young audit of Naftohaz, the expert opinions of the Alternative Center of Forensic Examination, and her orders to Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Prodan regarding gas talks with Russia’s Gazprom.

Motivating his decision Kireyev noted that all proofs on this case had been examined by both sides, including the documents mentioned by Yulia Tymoshenko.
