Leader of "Strong Ukraine" party and vice PM Serhiy Tigipko told a press conference why his party merges with the Party of Regions.

"Big changes and big reforms can be carried out only by serious political parties, which have influence, have majority in the parliament and positions in the Cabinet," he said.

Tigipko noted that the necessity to unite with the pro-presidential party arose from the necessity to adopt a number of draft bills, including humanization of economic crimes, Tax Code, development of legislation regarding IT industry and "many other decision we need to make".

"I believe that during the last year before the parliamentary elections we have a great opportunity to carry out interesting and important for the country reforms. Hence, there is a point to unite for this," Tigipko summed up.
