Ukraine expects to finish negotiations with Russia on the revision of the gas agreements of 2009 by the end of October 2011, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday, ForUm's correspondent reported.

"We've set ourselves a task to fully complete this work in October. Now we are forming the budget year, and we must enter 2012 year with confidence regarding such important figures as gas price, terms of supplies and gas transportation," Azarov said.

The prime minister noted he is pleased with the constructive position of the Russian side regarding the revision of the gas agreements. "This constructive position gives us the right to think that we will finally reach a mutually beneficial result. He added that he was satisfied with the start of the talks and a constructive position of the Russian side.

Speaking about details of the negotiations the head of the government noted: "The issue concerns a comprehensive approach and the development of all components in our relations regarding the supply of gas to Ukraine and its transit to Europe."
