Close to 30,000 Hasidic Jews from around the world are expected in Uman this week to celebrate September 28-29 Rosh Hoshana (New Year) at the grave of Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav, who died in 1810.

Airports got ready in advance, setting temporary terminals and preparing personnel for highly intense work mode. Local police forces together with officials of internal troops will provide security of the guests.

Taking into account the visa free travel between Ukraine and Israel 30,000 is a record number of pilgrims for the whole history of pilgrimage of Hasidic Jews in Uman.

Ukraine's nationalist party held a protest action Sunday against the annual pilgrimage, demanding that Hasid Jews not be allowed to gather in the town of Uman. The protesters shouted "Ukraine for Ukrainians" at Sunday's rally.
