Deputy chairman of the Sevastopol city administration Volodymyr Azabadji and French ambassador to Ukraine Jacques Faure discussed the possibility of concession of the French cemetery of Crimean war times 1854-1856, ForUm learned in the press office of the Sevastopol administration.

According to the ambassador, the French cemetery is in good condition, but needs constant maintenance. "The French side proposes to take charge of the cemetery if the Sevastopol city agrees to consign it," Faure declared.

The press office of Sevastopol noted that the sides reached full understanding regarding the question.



By the end of the Crimean war of 1854-1856 Sevastopol numbered several French cemeteries. Within the time the French government insisted on burying its soldiers in a military necropolis, built in 1863. According to different sources, during the Crimean war France lost from 45 thousand up to 95 thousand people.
