Ukraine and Russia must find a mutual compromise regarding the gas issue, PM Mykola Azarov told a briefing after visiting a Kyiv school.

Prime Minister Mykola Azarov hopes that negotiations in Moscow between presidents Viktor Yanukovych and Dmitry Medvedev will give go-ahead to revising gas agreements of 2009. "At least we are expecting new negotiations. That's why the president is going to Moscow," he said.

"There is a very serious preparatory work. We hope that this meeting will initiate the conclusion of a new gas agreement," Azarov emphasized, ForUm's correspondent reports.

The prime minister believes that Russia understands the moment has come to make a decision. "And this decision will be a compromise. It won't be perfect for both sides, but we understand that concessions must be mutual," Azarov pointed out.
