
She noted that for many years, before a period of crisis, the number of job vacancies in Ukraine was almost the same as the number of jobseekers. At the same time, there was a significant shortage of skilled employees. But in 2009-2010, there was a significant decrease in the number of job vacancies in all groups of jobs.
"In the greatest demand of employers are now the jobs of highly skilled employees - plumbers, turners, welders, drivers and other workers, as well as high-level specialists, top managers, economists, doctors, engineers, and experts in the sphere of information technology with relevant experience and a high level of skills," Ahlotkova said.
According to the State Statistics Service, 432,400 unemployed people, or 1.6% of the workforce, were registered at the State Employment Service as of September 1, 2011.
