Situation with job vacancies gets stabilized in Ukraine
The situation with the number of available job vacancies in Ukraine has stabilized in recent months. In general, 901,000 job vacancies were registered in the database of the State Employment Service of Ukraine in January-August 2011, which was 7.7% more than in the same period of 2010, Deputy Director of the State Employment Center Maryna Ahlotkova told the Mirror Weekly, UKRINFORM reported.

She noted that for many years, before a period of crisis, the number of job vacancies in Ukraine was almost the same as the number of jobseekers. At the same time, there was a significant shortage of skilled employees. But in 2009-2010, there was a significant decrease in the number of job vacancies in all groups of jobs.

"In the greatest demand of employers are now the jobs of highly skilled employees - plumbers, turners, welders, drivers and other workers, as well as high-level specialists, top managers, economists, doctors, engineers, and experts in the sphere of information technology with relevant experience and a high level of skills," Ahlotkova said.

According to the State Statistics Service, 432,400 unemployed people, or 1.6% of the workforce, were registered at the State Employment Service as of September 1, 2011.
