Pechersky District Court in Kyiv has turned down a petition to change the measure of restraint for former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko, who is currently in custody.

The court hasn't found any grounds to change the measure of restraint, reads a resolution by Presiding Judge Serhiy Vovk.

Commenting on Lutsenko's petition, prosecutor Zinchenko declared that the court had not been presented medical documents. This statement made Lutsenko's blood boil. He insisted that the prosecutor was lying as all the documents and diagnoses were submitted together with the petition. After a cross fire Lutsenko called prosecutors "sneaking freaks", and his wife Iryna Lutsenko left the court room crying.

As reported, Lutsenko and his driver Leonid Prystupliuk were charged on December 13, 2010 with the large-scale misappropriation of state owned assets, abuse of power and document forgery.
The former minister was arrested on December 26 2010 and has been held in jail ever since.
