President of "Yalta European Strategy" (YES), the former President of Poland Aleksander Kwaśniewski says that at the present time our country is going through a difficult period of reforms and difficult economic situation, but he stresses the importance of its European aspirations. He said this during the 8th Yalta Annual Meeting "Ukraine and the World: Common Challenges, Common Future", organized by "Yalta European Strategy" (YES), which took place September 15-18 at the Livadia Palace, according to "Interfax-Ukraine".

"For me it is important that Ukraine remains committed to Europe. Ukraine still sees itself as a part of the European family, part of Europe’s future," the politician said.

Speaking about the role of our country in Europe today, he noted that "Ukraine is a very important "brick" in building of the European house." "Great Europe, which Charles de Gaulle dreamt about, is Europe from the Atlantic to the Urals, with united economic and cultural space, shared values - this Europe is impossible without Ukraine," Aleksander Kwaśniewski noted.

He also expressed hope that this YES meeting will promote the Ukraine’s movement to Europe. "If we make today at least a small step in the future - it will be a victory of the Yalta European Strategy, Ukraine’s victory, Europe’s victory," the politician said.
