President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych is convinced that one of the most important tasks of the world community is to strengthen the international security and to elaborate common approaches to solve modern problems, stated Head of State on Friday, September 16, during his speech at 8th YES Yalta Annual Meeting.
"We need a new, more effective mechanism of international cooperation that guarantees each country’s security – from East to West. It is no secret that the situation around international security regimes providing strategic stability for decades has deteriorated," President noted.
Viktor Yanukovych is convinced that it is necessary to strengthen the influence of international security institutions, first of all that of the UN and the OSCE.
"We live in a post-aligned world and have to find new formulas of ensuring its safe development. Therefore, the importance of global mechanisms of coordinating different countries’ positions and developing common approaches to tackle the problems of modernity is growing," President emphasized.
"It is necessary to optimize the system of consultations and agreements at the international level. Central to the agenda of such meetings should be the questions of strengthening international security, and global financial-economic and resource-energy problems," Viktor Yanukovych noted.
