Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Lytvyn is convinced that, for its effective presidency of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in 2013, Ukraine must solve a series of internal problems. He stated this at a press briefing after his meeting with President of OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Petros Efthymiou, according to UKRINFORM.

The meeting covered issues involved in military and political security, as well as economic cooperation within the OSCE, energy security, human rights and democratic values.

Efthymiou expressed concern about the trials of the Ukrainian opposition leaders: former Interior Minister Yuriy Lutsenko and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

He stressed that he had already expressed his concern in a statement on August 11, 2011, and stood by his opinion.
