Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Lamberto Zannier will visit Ukraine on September 14-15, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.
"The arrival of an Italian diplomat to Ukraine will be one of his first foreign visits as OSCE secretary general. He was appointed to this post on July 1 this year," Dykusarov said, according to UKRINFORM.
Dykusarov said that the Ukrainian side had invited the newly appointed OSCE secretary general to establish working contacts and discuss ways to ensure the effective work of this organization. It is expected that negotiations will be conducted at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
In 2013, Ukraine will carry out political leadership at the OSCE - the largest regional security organization that unites 56 countries in Europe, North America and Asia.
