The minimum pension in Ukraine will not exceed 10 minimum wages for disabled persons. For today, this amount makes up UAH 7,640. Vice Premier and Social Policy Minister Serhiy Tihipko told a press conference at the Cabinet, answering questions by UKRINFORM correspondents.

He denied rumors, which appeared in mass media that during the repeated consideration of the pension law by the Parliament, a norm about limiting maximum pensions was withdrawn.

"A norm about limiting maximum pensions remained in the law. And, starting from October 1, nobody of new pensioners will receive a pension more than 10 minimum wages for disabled persons," the Vice Prime Minister said.

He added that all pensioners, whom a pension was assigned before this time, will be fully paid, however, their pension will not be indexed according to the new law.

Tihipko reminded that presently, there are 14,000 pensioners in Ukraine, who receive high pensions.
