In a few years Ukraine will start production of its own helicopters, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said during his visit to “Konotop Aircraft Repair Plant “Aviacon” in Sumy region.
The Head of Government stressed that the draft state budget for 2012 includes the funds for the program on building domestic helicopters.
“We should not be limited only to the repair of helicopters, though it is important, as we repair helicopters for the foreign market and we get money for this. We should also be concentrated on production of our own helicopters. The government will support such a program, and some funds have already been included in the draft budget for 2012. We expect that within a few years we would be able to create our own program for the production of competitive machines,” Azarov noted.
