At the European Football Championship 2012 finals, about 1.4 million fans are expected, Director of the Local Organizing Committee EURO 2012 Ukraine Markiyan Lubkivsky said.
"At the previous European Championship, which was held in Austria and Switzerland, there were 1.1 million fans and I believe that we will have a bit more. We will have approximately 1.4 million fans," he said, UKRINFORM reported.
Lubkivsky noted that the European Championship is the most large-scale project within the UEFA framework, the world's third prestigious sports event.
He also added that holding UEFA EURO 2012 in Ukraine and Poland is the third time when Eastern Europe hosts such an event, following the Olympic Games in Sarajevo and Moscow.
