The Health Ministry of Ukraine proposes to forbid all forms of tobacco advertisement. The Ministry reminded that September 4, 2011 was the fifth anniversary of Ukraine's joining the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
"Thanks to implementation of such regulations of the Convention as price increase for tobacco goods, limitation of smoking areas in public zones and information campaign on consequences of smoking, Ukraine managed to essentially reduce its outspread," the statement of the Ministry reads.
The press office of the Ministry informed that the draft bill on ban of commercial, sponsorship and promotion of tobacco goods had been prepared for consideration in its second reading by the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the Ministry, the draft bill fully corresponds to the requirements of the Convention on Tobacco Control and will result in further reduction of tobacco smoking.
