President Viktor Yanukovych in an interview with Kommersant-Ukraine, published on Tuesday, has said that any of his comments on the criminal case against former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will be seen as pressure on the court.

"The judiciary is independent, it works, and the president has no right to influence it. Conclusions on this issue can be done by the experts, someone else but not me. All my comments will be interpreted as pressure on the court," Yanukovych emphasized.

At the same time, the president failed to predict the fate of Yulia Tymoshenko: "We need to wait for a court ruling, and then we can talk about it".

According to Yanukovych, he is not interested that the reputation of the Ukrainian authorities in the world falls because of the trial of Yulia Tymoshenko. "I'm not interested in that! I have repeatedly said that I whish Tymoshenko to protect her rights in court. And I would like her to defend through the use of legal mechanisms, but not the political ones. But today I'm in a situation when I can not influence the decision of the court, I can not tell the court. Once I do it, I will break the Constitution," Yanukovych stressed.
