By the end of 2012 the number of Armed Forces should not exceed 184 thousand people, president of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych said during his speech in the parliament.
The president noted that he insists on adoption of a new version of the strategy of national security and military doctrine.
He also informed that the parliament should adopt in the nearest future the presidential draft law on limited size of the Armed Forces. Thus, by the end of 2012 the total number of army personnel should not exceed 184 thousand including 139 thousand of military men.
Yanukovych underlined that he counts on parliamentary support regarding reduction of army size.
