A Kiev court denied on Tuesday a request from former Ukrainian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko for daily half-hour visits from her priest.

Tymoshenko's lawyers filed a motion requesting permission for her to meet with her religious advisor in court during the lunch break.

"The court has no reason to approve the petition," Judge Rodion Kireev said.

Tymoshenko faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted ofdamaging Ukraine's national interests by signing "unfair" gas supply deals with Russia as prime minister in 2009.
