President Viktor Yanukovych believes that the Commonwealth of Independent States is a good platform for effective trade and economic cooperation between Ukraine and other countries. However, according to the President of Ukraine, the CIS countries now lack a Free Trade Area Agreement, which would operate on the principles of the WTO.

Viktor Yanukovych also noted the importance of cooperation between the CIS member-states in sector programs, innovative technologies. "We should have access to the developments, where science is better. We all are interested in this. The exchange of innovative programs should also be resolved soon in our intergovernmental agreements," the President said.
