says that the judge’s refusal to consider motions lodged by the defense
indicates that he has been ordered to carry out political repression.
“Kireyev – you’re not hearing this case, you’re falsifying it. You’re not a judge. Kireyev you’re a criminal in a judge’s robe. You need to take off that robe and all signs of the state and leave this court. You’re a clown that’s carrying out orders to carry out political repression,” Yulia Tymoshenko said to the judge after he refused to consider defense lawyer Oleksandr Plakhotnyuk’s motion to disqualify him from the case.
Rodion Kireyev said that the ex-premier’s comment will be added to the record as “an attempt to delay the trial” and accused her of trying to disrupt the proceedings.
Yulia Tymoshenko emphasized that the judge is systematically violating the rights of the defense. “We don’t have the right to prepare for the hearings. You’re denying me the right to defense. You have turned this trial into a farce. You’re not giving us the right to call witnesses and experts and denying me the right to an independent medical examination,” she said, Tymoshenko's official website reported.
In turn, the judge announced that in the future, applications to disqualify the trial judge will be considered before the end of the session.
