It is crucial to draw attention of the state to the system of education which guarantees the future of the country, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn stated, speaking at the celebration of the Knowledge Day in Zhytomyr region.
Lytvyn appreciates the fact that eternal universal values, such as knowledge, are preserved in our turbulent, changing times. "It is good that despite the changes experienced by Ukraine, we kept this holiday which is becoming a truly national one," the Head of the Parliament stated.
He stressed that knowledge will always be sought-after, as it will form the image of the country and guarantee leadership in the global world which "does not admire the states entering the independent course of development as full-fledged players in the world arena."
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems necessary to stake on education, increasing financial support of the educational system, especially that of teachers. He sincerely thanked the teaching staff of the school, stating that a real teacher does not only give knowledge, but also sets their own example.
The Head of the Parliament wished the pupils "to set the goals and achieve them", and follow the principle "I am a leader and sublime my family, town, and country." Lytvyn stressed that Ukraine had asserted itself as a state, so now its development should be supported.
