Judge Kreyev bans live coverage of trial

Pechersk District Court Judge Rodion Kireyev has denied the defense request to resume live coverage of the trial of ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko despite the fact that witnesses are not being questioned at this stage, Tymoshenko's official website reports.

Yulia Tymoshenko’s defense lawyer Yuriy Sukhov justified their request by saying that cameras were banned from the courtroom only during witness testimony but should be resumed now that evidence is being reviewed, adding that once the court returns to the issue of calling witnesses cameras can again be forbidden.

The judge said that it is impossible to resume live coverage because the court has not considered the motion to call witnesses.
