Yulia Tymoshenko’s defense is demanding that the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv respect the law and ensure the ex-premier the right to a medical examination.

"Yulia Tymoshenko has not been convicted and has every constitutional right to proper medical care. We demand that she begin the opportunity to undergo a proper medical examination," Yuriy Sukhov told journalists today, according to Tymoshenko's official website.

The lawyer emphasized that according to article 284 of the Civil Code of Ukraine, every person has the right to select a doctor of his or her choice.

Yuriy Sukhov added that Yulia Tymoshenko doesn’t want the results of her exam to become known to others, particularly employees of the Ministry of Health, who can then use this information for any objective. "She wants everything to remain confidential, and this is her right," he said.

Yuriy Sukhov sad that he has submitted another motion requesting permission for Yulia Tymoshenko’s personal doctor to examine her, adding that is the only person who can determine whether her health has worsened since he has been treating her for the last 10 years.
