Batkivshchyna Party leader and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko
has refused to cross-examine former President of Ukraine Viktor
Yushchenko, who today testified in her trial as a witness for the
prosecution.
"I will explain to the court. I don’t want to ask the witness
questions because I don’t want the Orange Revolution to be judged in
this court, I don’t want there to be squabbles about the relationship
between the president and prime minister. Let everything Viktor
Andriyovych [Yushchenko] said remain on his conscience. I won’t ask
questions because I don’t want to please the Presidential
Administration," Yulia Tymoshenko said today in court.
Her statement was met by applause from the courtroom audience.
The court is now questioning President Yushchenko’s former international energy advisor Bohdan Sokolovsky.
