Vlasenko: evidence of Naftohaz losses forged
Yulia Tymoshenko’s lawyer Serhiy Vlasenko says the inquiry into damages incurred by Naftohaz as a result of gas contracts signed in 2009 was fabricated.

"This is a fabricated document and if we could properly interrogate those people that came today as witnesses in the case, it would be very difficult for them, because the document was forged," Serhiy Vlasenko told journalists, commenting on today's developments in the trial.

According to him, the certificate of the financial audit of the activities of Naftohaz was written in the Control and Revision Department. "This fake certificate was prepared in the premises of the Control and Revision Office, nobody conducted an audit, they signed a ready document. This comes out in their testimony, and that’s why they kicked everyone out of the courtroom so that nobody could hear what they’re saying," he said.

During yesterday’s hearing, Yulia Tymoshenko said she is innocent and believes the civil lawsuit filed by Naftohaz is absurd. She stressed that the claim for compensation of alleged losses incurred as a result of the gas contracts signed from the transport of natural gas across the territory of Ukraine was filed by the wrong legal entity. "Naftohaz didn’t suffer any losses because this company doesn’t transport gas. Ukrtranshaz should have filed the lawsuit if we’re talking about losses from transport. The case was falsified hastily and that’s why there are many factual errors," she explained.

The lawsuit filed by Naftohaz seeks 1.516 billion hryvnias in compensation from Yulia Tymoshenko for damages allegedly suffered by the company as a result of the gas contracts signed with Russia’s Gazprom in execution of a prime ministerial directive. Naftohaz representative Ihor Kost is the civil plaintiff in the case.
