The Cabinet of Ministers proposed that the Parliament allow the construction of a centralized repository for spent nuclear fuel in the Chornobyl exclusion zone. The relevant bill is registered in parliament, UKRINFORM reported.
The government proposes appending the repository to the single complex for waste nuclear fuel management of the state specialized enterprise Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
According to the explanatory note, the design, construction and commissioning of the storage facility will be funded with loans. The construction effort will take three years.
