The National Bank of Ukraine prepares tougher requirement criterions for banks, issuing loans to households. The regulator prepared the draft resolution on making amendments to the resolution on approval of the "Instruction on the Procedure for Regulation of Bank Activities."

As UKRINFORM reported, a new status is proposed - a special bank for consumer crediting. This status will be extended to credit institutions that issue consumer credits to households to the amount equal or higher 100% of their authorized capital.

Enhanced requirements will be applied to special consumer banks as distinct from universal banks. They could raise household deposits to the amount of no more than three sizes of their authorized capital.

NBU counts to cut import of consumer goods by toughening of requirement criterions, primarily "grey import." Reduction of the sales on credit will cut demand for the currency on the part of importers, which will allow the regulator to improve the balance of payments.
