Cooperation between the IMF and Ukraine is an evidence of confidence in
our country and its banking system, President Viktor Yanukovych said in
an interview with leading Ukrainian media.
Viktor Yanukovych emphasized that the terms on which the county cooperates with the IMF are certainly important. "We will never borrow at interest rates the previous government did; 27, 28% is absurdity. This is a question that will have to be addressed. We now take credits at interest rates ranging from 5.7% to about 6.5%.”
The President called the IMF an "indicator" of the global financial banking system. "If the IMF is working with a country, has a program with it, it means that there is trust. This means that this country can meet its obligations, that it is competitive," he said.
