Ukraine does not intend to give Russia the debts of the Unified Energy Systems of Ukraine corporation, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov told a press briefing on Tuesday, UKRINFORM reported.
Last week's edition of the Ukrayinska Pravda published a letter from Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdiukov to Azarov with the request for repayment of the debt of the Unified Energy Systems in the amount of 405.5 million dollars.
The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc suggested that this letter was a fake, or written at the request of the Ukrainian side.
Later, spokesman for the Prime Minister, Vitaliy Lukianenko confirmed authenticity of the letter.
In March, Mykola Azarov charged ex-premier Yulia Tymoshenko that in 2009 she signed a disadvantageous gas deal with Russia in exchange for the debt relief.
Yulia Tymoshenko headed the corporation in 1995-1997.
