All the conditions for the development of democratic institutions are present in Ukraine, President Viktor Yanukovych said, speaking today at the XIII World Congress of Russian Press, which was held in Kyiv today.

"We have created favorable conditions for the development of democratic institutions in our society," Viktor Yanukovych said, reminding of the adoption of the Law of Ukraine "On the Access to Public Information.” He said that almost all of the state authorities have already created the appropriate departments to ensure the implementation of this law.

"We are being criticized, perhaps, more than anyone else in power since the independence because we are open," he said. According to him it is the current government’s style of work: speaking less, doing more and telling citizens the truth.

The President pointed to the importance of deep and systematic modernization. He expressed his certainty that the process of reforming cannot be easy. The main purpose of the reforms is to ensure economic growth and, consequently, the improvement of social standards.

The President thanked the XIII World Congress of Russian Press participants for accepting his invitation to conduct it in Kyiv.
